Los Angeles is known for its diverse culinary scene, and there are plenty of family-friendly restaurants in the South Bay Area that cater to both kids and adults. The South Bay encompasses the beach cities that are start with Playa del Rey and down to Long Beach. Whether you're a local or just visiting, here are some of our favorite family-friendly restaurants in the South Bay that are sure to please everyone in your family. 1. Joey in Manhattan Beach at Manhattan Village: This trendy new American restaurant is a feast for the senses. With its vibrant decor and lively atmosphere, it's the perfect place to bring your family for a fun and delicious meal. The menu offers a variety of options for both kids and adults, including gyozas, sushi, sliders, salads and pastas. I love every one of their entree salads! Their full bar serves up delicious cocktails and they have an extensive wine list, making this a fun date spot as well. The restaurant also provides a kids' menu with one of our favorite spaghettis in town. Added bonus: the kiddos can run off some energy on the grassy areas outside of the restaurant while you wait for your table and Handel's is next door that serves up delicious ice cream and shakes for dessert! 2. North Italia at The Point in El Segundo: If you're in the mood for some comforting Italian food, this hip trattoria is the place to go. With its large indoor and outdoor dining areas, it's the perfect spot for a family dinner. The menu features classic Italian dishes like pasta, pizza, and lasagna, as well as a kids' menu (and the kids portions are huge, def good for sharing across multiple kids, I sometimes just share two kids meals with Sienna when I'm on a mommy-daughter date). We love their kale or seasonal vegetable salads, pizzas, and spicy vodka sausage rigatoni. The kids' menu consists of dishes that are sure to please even the pickiest eaters. North is located inside of an outdoor shopping area with large grassy areas, fountain and play structure for the kids, making this a perfect family destination. Added bonus: they will let you take their wine and cocktails to-go so you can imbibe while the kids play! 3. Vista in Hermosa Beach: This casual beach joint is a hit with both kids and adults. With its beach front location, plenty of outdoor bench seating (some with fire pits), and seriously delicious modern takes on American and Asian dishes, it's a great place to bring your family for a casual and fun meal. The menu offers a variety of trendy dishes like charred watermelon with burrata and kimchi fried rice, as well as tried and true dishes like burgers and salads. The restaurant also provides a great kids' menu with kid-friendly options. Your kids can play on the sand within eyeshot while you soak in the sun with drinks - a recipe for a great day out! 4. Kura Sushi Restaurant (multiple locations): If your family loves sushi, this family-friendly sushi restaurant is a must-visit. With its sushi chef preparing dishes and rolls in an open kitchen and sending it out on a revolving belt, it's a fun and interactive dining experience for the whole family. Each plate on the revolving sushi belt are a single fixed price - items ordered on the a la carte menu are priced individually. The menu offers a variety of sushi, as well as other Japanese dishes like tempura, udon and teriyaki. Each table has its own chute down which kids can shoot plates when done, which is also how the restaurant calculates your tab - and kids get rewarded with a prize for every 15 plates. Between picking sushi off the belt and the anticipation of a prize, kids have a blast - and the sushi is actually quite good, too! Pro Tip: waits can run 60-90+ minutes during peak times but you can download their app and put yourself on the waitlist and head to your location when it's time! 5.
